Recently, a friend sent me a link to a letter written by Fiona Apple to her fans regarding the cancellation of her tour so that she could remain at home with her beloved dog, Janet, through Janet's final journey. I have to admit, I had never heard of Fiona Apple until now, let alone any kind of familiarity with her music; however, her letter to her fans brought me to tears.
Our animal companions give of themselves completely, unconditionally, and with unbounded enthusiasm. It is hard to describe the absolute joy created within this bond. At the same time, we know that the time we have is finite and far too brief. I have had the honour of being present in the months, weeks, and days leading up to both my own furry kids' transitions but also those of some of my customers beloved pets. There is no way to describe what it feels like, before, during, and after our loved ones transition - there is the knowing look and gentle touch from those who have been there before. From the moment we bring our loved once home from where ever we find eachother ... we know what awaits, yet wouldn't trade a single moment of the joy we share with our furry pals. Here is Fiona's letter - it is worth the read. http://www.examiner.com/article/fiona-apple-cancels-tour-to-stay-by-dying-dog-s-side I recently took this one day course at Langara focusing on animal behaviour and energy-based communication. It was extremely interesting. I don't know if it actually works but I do believe if you send love and light out through energy, our animals are incredibly intuitive and pick up on our energy. The class was filled with individuals who dearly love their animals - their stories and their commitment to their animal friends was so inspiring.
So I decided to focus my energy on this one canine pal of mine that has recently started having medical issues. Other than this recent onset, this two year old is exceptionally healthy. As we were practicing our energy communication, I was sending love and white light and healing through energy to this one special gal. The next day I told her humans companions about the course and that I was sending this love and white light to their gal, but that I was quite new at it, and she might have missed it. I am sure they were smiling when I told them of my attempts at this type of communication - they went on to share that they believe that she got it. I'd like to believe that she did too. At the end of the day, I believe our animal companions can definitely pick up on our energy and they are infinitely more intuitive than we give them credit for. Besides, who wouldn't want to be the recipient of much love and white light every now and again? |
